Why marsupial.ch? Simply because wombat.ch, koala.ch, kangaroo.ch and many more of that kind were already registered domain names. Surprisingly, even less known creatures such as platypus or echidna, both animals that we have not seen in wildlife so far, were not available anymore. Pseudechis-Porphyriacus.ch, the Latin name for the red-bellied black snake, would have been free and fancy, but you agree, not really easily memorable. As great fans of the Australian fauna we still wanted to combine Australia and Switzerland in this way with a short name in our URL. Therefore, we finally chose marsupial.ch: Marsupials are an infraclass of mammals, characterized by a distinctive pouch (called the marsupium), in which females carry their young through early infancy.

It is difficult to picture the fascinating moments when we were able to observe wildlife from a short distance - this you have to experience yourselves. Nonetheless we would like to share some landscapes and other panoramic views with you. We present some "highlights" in a more or less chronological order - in contrast to categories this better represents how diversified this continent and our life on it is.

We hope you enjoy scrolling through the fotos and reading a little bit the titles and some shorter or longer stories and explanations. Corinne sends out some "Newsletters" to her friends, you can also download them from our "Australia picture overview". We very much look forward to getting signs of life from you, even if it is just two short lines in an email - we have not forgotten our friends and Switzerland!

This was the last thing we moved from our balcony in Dübendorf ... no, we don't!
